Well the wimps missed another great day out in the sunshine on their bikes. They should know by now that the weather forecast is only a rough guide.
Still two intrepid bikers met at Orba petrol station as planned, Ken and Colin. We waited until a couple of minutes past 10 just in case any of the other “fair weather” members had changed their minds and then headed off. We met up with Kees and Karin as planned in Alcalali and then headed off through Jalon and up onto the N332. We rode down through Calpe, on to Altea and then Alfaz, Benidorm and past Villajoyosa. Without the sat nav we would never have found the Comancheros club house. There were no signs on the N332 at all.
We pulled into the club house grounds and were made to feel very welcome. The vice President came up and greeted us as we parked our bikes. Unfortunately there were only a couple of stalls with not much on them of interest, still we listened to the music and had a cup of coffee in the sun. Hopefully as the event becomes wider known there will be more stalls and more bikes. After about 3/4 of an hour we decided to head off up through the mountains in the general direction of home.
We set off northbound up the N332 to Benidorm where we turned off onto the CV70 and headed for La Nucia and then on to Callosa and we stopped in Bolulla at our usual bar for another coffee and a chat again in the sunshine. After coffee we headed up through Tarbena to the Coll de Ratas and as we dropped down the other side there was a micro-light circling over head. We dropped down to Parcent and dropped Kess and Karin off and then on towards Orba. As we dropped down the hill around the hairpin bends there was the biggest bird of prey, that I have seen in this area, soaring on the thermals hunting. We then split up in Orba to go home.
A nice 115km’s in the sunshine, you wimps don’t know what you missed, another great day in the sunshine on our bikes. Maybe next Sunday?
